We are off!

My kids and I left today and it was so surreal.  As I am driving, I am processing nothing--just open flow and moving forward, when the thought entered my head.  This is the first day of the rest of my life.  It still does not feel real!  I feel like I am just on a big road trip and will end up back in California even though I just packed up my whole life and watched the movers take it away.  I said goodbye to friends and shared some tears, but still it does not seem real.  The thing I have wanted most in life is now coming true!  I am sad to leave such a grea group of friends, but the thought of returning to family and having my kids grow up around that support is so satisfying and makes me smile.

The kids did great today!  We drove about 450 miles without any complaining and they even agreed to go further than planned.  Although Skyler did ask about 1 hour into the trip " How much longer is it?"  We drove for about 7 hours and 450 miles with 1 stop for gas and a leg stretch.  We landed in Wells, Nevada.  If you have never heard of it there is a reason for that.  It is just 2 steps short of a ghost town and yet one of the bigger towns in the area--it had 2 exits and a sign for food and lodging amenities.  There is a sign pointing down a street stating historic downtown walk--1 block.  Well, looking down the street, there was a bunch of rubble and broken down buildings with 2 buildings intact--hence the 1 block and I just laughed.  Quite a historic tour!  The kids took a quick dip in the pool since it was only 75 degrees.  But they had a blast while it lasted.  Ian wanted to stay in a hotel like the one on The Suite Life of Zach and Cody which is like the Hilton.  We are at a Super 8 which is the Hilton of Wells, Nevada!  You should see what the rest of the places looked like!  We decided to sleep in "luxury" instead of camp.  Ian has found Nevada ugly and not very interesting, so he did not think that camping was worth the time since there would be nothing of interest to do.  I agreed and we are now here at the Super 8.  On our drive, the only thing I had to tackle causing some interest was a large tumbleweed that crossed the road in my path.  We did see some strange structures on the side of the freeway which made our heads turn.  Still not sure what they were.  We are very excited for tomorrow to head to Jewel Cave and Yellowstone.  We are definitely camping tomorrow night!  I will keep you all posted and start adding some pictures as they come.  For now, I bid you all Namaste for being and integral part of my life.
